Terms of Service

The service
Tag.bio MCP lets you analyze Tag.bio data products using AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, and other compatible applications.
When you connect an assistant to your Tag.bio account, the assistant can submit authorized requests to Tag.bio for data discovery and analysis. Tag.bio processes those requests and returns results to the connected assistant.
These Terms are an agreement between you and Tag.bio, Inc. ("Tag.bio", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms.
These Terms apply to the self-service Tag.bio MCP offering. Enterprise services, private data deployments, and separately contracted services may be governed by different agreements.
Your account
You must provide accurate account information and have the legal capacity to accept these Terms. If you use the service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to do so.
Accounts are intended for individual users and may not be shared or transferred without our permission.
You are responsible for protecting your account credentials, API keys, access tokens, and connected applications. You are responsible for activity performed through your account, except to the extent caused by Tag.bio's own acts or omissions.
Notify us promptly at support@tag.bio if you suspect unauthorized access. We may temporarily disable compromised credentials to protect your account and the service.
Plans, credits, and payment
Free trial. New accounts receive a free trial lasting up to 30 days or 400 credits, whichever comes first. No payment card is required. The trial does not automatically convert into a paid subscription, and you will not be charged unless you affirmatively subscribe. If you subscribe during the free trial, your first payment is taken when the trial ends: after 30 days or when you have used 400 credits, whichever comes first. One free trial per person. We may decline a trial for disposable email addresses or repeated sign-ups.
Commercial plan. The Commercial plan costs $25 per month and includes 400 credits per monthly billing period. Payments are processed through Stripe. Prices do not include taxes. Where we are required to collect tax, it is added and shown at checkout.
Your paid subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel. The renewal price, billing frequency, and cancellation instructions are provided before you subscribe.
Credits. Different analyses and operations may consume different numbers of credits. Current credit costs and your remaining balance are displayed in your account.
Calls that are refused, or that fail before any work is done, do not use credits. A query that reaches its time limit is charged. A custom analysis is charged once its code starts running, including if it then fails, times out or is cancelled. If your available credits are exhausted, further credit-consuming operations will be unavailable until your credits renew or you buy additional credits.
Commercial subscribers can buy additional credits; they are added to the current billing period and expire with it.
Unused monthly credits expire at the end of the applicable billing period. Credits do not carry forward, have no cash value, and are not transferable.
Failed payments. If a payment fails, we retry for up to 7 days. During that time your current credits remain usable; after it, credit-consuming features are paused until payment succeeds.
Cancellation. You can cancel your paid subscription at any time through your account's billing settings. Cancellation stops future renewals. Your paid access continues through the end of your current billing period.
Payments are generally nonrefundable for partially used billing periods, except where required by applicable law or expressly provided in these Terms.
Educational and nonprofit access. Eligible universities and nonprofit organizations may receive a complimentary one-year subscription, subject to the usage limits of the applicable plan. We may require verification of eligibility. Complimentary access does not automatically convert to a paid subscription.
Price changes. We will provide at least 30 days' advance notice of subscription price increases or material increases in the credit costs of standard operations. Changes apply prospectively, and you may cancel before they take effect.
Fair use and prohibited activities
To maintain a reliable service for everyone, Tag.bio may enforce reasonable usage limits, including limits on requests, concurrent analyses, and resource consumption. Applicable plan limits are shown in your account or in the message when a limit is reached.
You agree not to:
- Circumvent credit limits, rate limits, authentication, or access controls.
- Share credentials or use multiple accounts to evade usage restrictions.
- Perform unauthorized bulk extraction, scraping, or redistribution of entire data products through the service.
- Attempt to identify or re-identify individuals represented in any dataset, including by combining data with outside sources.
- Probe, attack, or test the security of the service without written authorization.
- Interfere with service availability or other users' access.
- Use the service unlawfully or in a manner that violates applicable data-use agreements.
Reasonable use of analytical results for authorized research, reporting, and publication is permitted, subject to the underlying data sources' restrictions.
Data products and analytical results
Tag.bio MCP provides access to data products derived from public research sources, including resources such as TCGA, cBioPortal, and published clinical trials, as well as synthetic datasets.
Underlying datasets remain subject to their original licenses, attribution requirements, and usage restrictions. A paid Tag.bio subscription does not grant additional rights to third-party data.
You may use analytical results for your own research, internal analysis, academic work, and authorized commercial research, subject to applicable source-data terms and laws.
Tag.bio retains its intellectual property rights in the service, software, algorithms, interfaces, and proprietary technology. You retain your rights in the questions and other content you submit. We do not claim ownership of your independently created research or conclusions.
We may process your submitted questions and related information as necessary to provide, secure, and operate the service, consistent with our Privacy Policy.
Research use and medical disclaimer
The self-service Tag.bio MCP offering is intended for research, education, and analytical exploration.
It is not a medical device, clinical decision-support system, or substitute for professional medical advice. Results must not be used independently to diagnose, treat, or make clinical decisions about any individual.
Do not submit protected health information (PHI), directly identifying patient records, or other sensitive personal information to the service unless that use has been separately authorized by Tag.bio under an appropriate written agreement.
Analyses may contain inaccuracies, incomplete information, statistical uncertainty, or errors introduced by AI-generated interpretation. Users are responsible for independently validating important findings before relying on them.
Third-party AI assistants
AI assistants and applications connecting to Tag.bio MCP are operated by independent providers, such as OpenAI and Anthropic.
When you connect an assistant, you authorize requests made through that connection within your permitted account access. These requests may consume credits according to the applicable rates.
Information you submit to an assistant, and results returned to that assistant, may be processed or retained by the assistant provider under its own terms and privacy policies.
Tag.bio is responsible for its own operation and handling of information within the Tag.bio service, as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not control the independent operations, outputs, data practices, or availability of third-party assistants.
You are responsible for reviewing the applicable provider terms and configuring your assistant's privacy and access settings appropriately.
Privacy and security
We collect and process account information, service requests, usage records, and related technical information as described in our Privacy Policy.
Our Privacy Policy explains our handling of personal information, including relevant retention practices, service providers, and applicable privacy rights.
To disconnect an assistant, remove the Tag.bio connector in that assistant; it can then no longer use your account. API keys can be revoked on the Connect tab of your account page.
For questions about privacy or account deletion, contact support@tag.bio.
Availability and changes to the service
We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or noninfringement, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
We may update features, algorithms, data products, and usage limits. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of material changes affecting paid services.
If we permanently discontinue the service, we will aim to notify paying users at least 30 days in advance, except where circumstances beyond our reasonable control prevent this.
If we discontinue paid service before the end of a prepaid billing period, we will refund the unused portion of that period.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Tag.bio is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost business opportunities, or loss of data arising from use of the service.
Tag.bio's total aggregate liability arising from the service will not exceed the greater of $100 or the amount you paid Tag.bio for the service during the 12 months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, willful misconduct, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access when an account violates these Terms, creates a security risk, or threatens the availability or integrity of the service.
Where reasonably possible, we will explain the reason and provide an opportunity to resolve the issue, unless prohibited by law or prevented by security considerations.
You may stop using the service, cancel your subscription, or request account deletion at any time.
Account deletion, subscription cancellation, and retention of information required by law are governed by the applicable provisions of these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes in the service, applicable law, or our business practices.
We will notify users by email before material changes take effect, except where immediate changes are reasonably necessary for legal or security reasons.
If you disagree with updated Terms, you may stop using the service and cancel your subscription before the changes take effect.
Continued use after updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law.
Governing law and contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without overriding any mandatory rights available under applicable consumer protection laws.
For questions about these Terms, contact support@tag.bio.
